“Day 24”

I graduated two RESTART Sugar Detox groups this week!  I love it when we get to this point and they share what they learned and how much better they feel.  Some just can’t believe they were able to follow through with something like this successfully.  Others didn’t want it to end.  Several are continuing on with my Get at the Roots weight loss class, which starts next week.  I even got this card and a special gift from one person.

Bristol mugBest mug ever!  (I talk a lot about poop w/ my clients!)

Here are a few more testimonials from the class:

  • “You can do this on your own – but it’s tough.  The class gives you the tools to do it & Courtney guides you through it & over the rough spots.” ~S.S.
  • “Courtney is passionate about her work & very knowledgeable.  She is very supportive & available throughout the detox.”~S.M.
  • “This is the first time I have really stuck to something like this – I think I have made a permanent change!!”~L.M.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Graves, morning news anchor on KATU Channel 2 is on Day 4!  He made the pancakes for the morning news team and they seemed surprised by how well they liked them.  Here’s the clip.

I also thought I’d share how the past 3 days have gone since I’ve been off the detox.  Things are largely the same as I haven’t added much back.  However, I did have some Thai food (with rice) which tasted rather sweet; gluten-free oatmeal w/ cinnamon, butter, and coconut which seemed to go right through me if you know what I mean; and two pieces of gluten-free toast with my eggs and grapefruit.  All of these things felt heavy in my belly, and aren’t likely choices for my daily diet.  The other thing I’ve noticed, though I can’t be sure they’re related to these foods, is my fatigue is back this week.  By about 8:00 at night I can barely keep my eyes open, and I have had to lay down and rest a few afternoons this week.  This could be another Hashimoto’s flare; it could be the food; or it could just be that it’s been an adrenaline-rich, and somewhat exhausting week.  I’ll definitely be resting up this weekend.

In other news, I’m very excited to announce that starting March 1st, I will be hanging my shingle at Portland Natural Medicine in the historic Weatherly Building at the east end of the Morrison Bridge.  This is where I will see clients and run some of my classes (in addition to other class locations in the Portland area).  Joining Dr. Tom Messinger’s team of healthcare providers is truly an honor, and I could not be more thrilled!

Needless to say, it’s been a banner week for me and Nourish Portland!
